Programmable Rail Supply Specifications

Overview

The PRS (Programmable Rail Source) is an optional card.
An XTA system can hold up to 4 such cards per system (this card can be plugged in either of the 4 power slots), however the proposed standard XTA system holds 2 such cards.
Its function is to provide the DUT board with a set of programmable rails that it could need to supply some of its custom electronics on the DUT board.
The obvious rails are of course available directly on the DUT board (like ±5 V, ±15 V), but for more non-standard rails, this card comes in handy.
It would be a pity for the waste of resources if a far more capable (and far more expensive) PPS card should simply deliver some none-standard power.
